Donnie Hathaway is one of the great contemporary
R&B and Soul Singers of our time. Extremely popular during the
60’s and 70’s Donnie wrote, performed, produced and
arranged music for great artist such as Roberta Flack, Marvin Gay,
Aretha Franklin, and the Staple Singers. Like many R&B artist
his early roots are deeply embedded in black gospel music. This
brings me to my final keyboard tips and tricks for 2006.
There will be three parts to this newsletter
which will conclude the 2006 year of lessons. I wanted to give you
a head-start on this holiday classic. This song is a timeless favorite
among African American families during the Christmas Holiday.
Let get started. The Left hand chords are
listed below. “Click here” to download the Lead
Sheet and the play-along
audio track. Practice the chords below for the left hand only.
This arrangement is also great for the organ. Just play the root
note of the chord in with the foot pedal.
